Dr. Ma specializes in cosmetic surgery of the breast and body. With her keen aesthetic eye and excellent technical skills, she is well known for her ability to create beautifully natural, proportionate and feminine breasts. Dr. Ma feels that every woman interested in plastic surgery should feel comfortable coming to learn about their options, from botox injections to surgery. She carefully considers the needs and expectations of her patients and strives to produce natural looking results in keeping with her patient's aesthetic wishes.
Dr. Ma also enjoys performing breast reconstruction for breast cancer patients. Breast cancer is a physically and emotionally challenging disease. Dr. Ma feels that the goal of breast reconstruction is to help women through the healing process by reconstructing their breasts in the most natural and aesthetic way possible.
Dr. Ma received her plastic surgery training at the renowned Yale University. In this 3 year program, she received extensive training in all aspects of plastic surgery, including cosmetic and reconstructive procedures. While at Yale, she was awarded the Resident Research award for her work on developing an algorithm for the use of the delay procedure to prevent fat necrosis in TRAM flaps. She also devoted two years of her training to lab bench research on the development of an immune based vaccine for melanoma.
In her free time, Dr. Ma enjoys knitting and knitwear design, sewing and archtectural design. She is an amateur chocolatier and enjoys experimenting with flavored truffles. She recently acquired two puppies, a Bernese Mountain dog and his buddy, a Border terrier. Today the Bernese Mountain dog is almost bigger than Dr. Ma. Dr. Ma grew up in Holland and can still manage to speak somewhat rusty Dutch.
